Thursdays - 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. _______________________________________________ A six-week workshop introduction to
small group playing. A group of no more than 8 individuals, including a guitarist, bassist, drummer and horn players will meet once a week for a one and one-half hour session.Through
three to four varied style arrangements such as swing, Latin, blues, and funk styles, each musician will learn the basics of group playing and the role of their chosen instrument in a band. Curriculum: Topics to be covered include:
- Music reading; eight notes, dotted eight notes, syncopation rhythms.
- Reading and playing in various keys.
- Playing in the pocket/groove with feeling.
- How to develop ideas as a group, building upon the creative ideas from the other band members.
Terry Cano, the instructor, is a professional musician, having worked many gigs of varied types in the L.A. area and abroad, including recording, shows and concerts, and many commercial band
and orchestra engagements as both a keyboard player, bandleader, and conductor. His talent and experience also includes composition and arranging for shows and record dates as well as holding the
